Di's Education & Experience

Di holds a Counselling qualification from Torrens University and is currently in her final year Bachelor of Social Science - Behavioural Studies through Swinburne. Di  is currently completing a Graduate Certificate in Childhood Trauma through University of South Australia. (UniSA).

Initially Di's experience had been in Education. Her background combines a solid blend of experience working directly with young people in Papua New Guinea and Australia.  Di has worked extensively with young people in Residential Care and families in  her role as a Intensive Family Services (IFS) and Reunification Practitioner within Not For Profit (NFP) Organisation.

Di has a warm and respectful approach and provides a safe, supportive and non-judgmental environment for clients to explore and express their difficulties. Di’s therapeutic approach emphasises the quality of the relationship between therapist and client. Di often use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT)  among other therapies.

In your first session, we'll explore what brought you to therapy and then decide the most appropriate ways to help you make progress. With CBT, we'll look at how your thoughts affect your emotions and experience. During treatment, Di will help you learn how to push back against those thoughts to change your feelings for the better. Di's approach is person-centered, evidence-based and holistic.
